Employee Engagement Programme
Central Essex Community Services
Objectives
The merger of three primary care trusts into one created some challenging performance issues. The relatively new leadership team had worked on vision and values, but needed them to be understood, owned and embedded within the organisation. Middle management needed the confidence and skills to engage with staff, praise positive performance, and communicate key messages.
The organisation asked us to help address the perceived lack of control and direction and tackle the cultural fear of change.
Our Response
We designed a series of one-day Our Future events for leaders to engage with all staff face-to-face. This provided a forum to present the corporate rebranding, allow employees to question them, and invite everyone to identify the behaviours and commitments needed to achieve the new organisational values of Act, Listen, Learn, Together.
The Result
The Our Future events improved morale and communication among management and employees. Staff gained insight, clarity, and an understanding of what was happening and what was expected in future. Some said they felt “motivated, and with a better understanding of our new services”. The senior management team boosted their confidence in engaging with employees. We are developing workshops for managers to help staff apply what they learned and to live the new values every day.
